Sharp drop in profit

Kingfisher's interim report for the first six months shows a double-digit drop in profit and a sales deficit in like-for-like terms

While Kingfisher grew retail sales by 3.3 per cent to £ 4.079 bn (€ 5.964 bn) in the first half of the current financial year, it reports a 3.4 per cent decline in like-for-like terms. Pre-tax profit was down 21.3 per cent at £ 289.1 mio (€ 422.7 mio).
B&Q in the UK recorded sales of £ 2.097 bn (€ 3.066 bn), or 2.6 down on the same period last year. Plans include closing down 22 stores and converting 16 large-format stores to the Mini Warehouse format. Sales saw growth of 7.1 per cent to £ 1.382 bn (€ 2.021 bn) in France, 21.6 per cent to £ 361.3 mio (€ 528.6 mio) in the rest of Europe, and 31.7 per cent to a total of £ 111.3 mio (€ 162.7 mio) in Asia.
