Leroy Merlin is the clear favourite among DIY superstore customers in France

It is clear from a study undertaken by Asterop and TNS Sofres that Leroy Merlin, the market leader in France, tops the popularity stakes among consumers. The company has the highest score in eight out of ten criteria that were taken into consideration. Only in the matter of pricing is Brico Dépôt ahead, followed by Leroy Merlin in second place and Bricomarché third. Auchan heads the field when it comes to customer cards and loyalty schemes. Castorama fulfils seven criteria, which puts the company in second position.
Weldom is placed third with regard to the availability of personnel. BHV also figures among the top three for the breadth and quality of its product offer, for its after-sales service and the stimulating ideas it provides for DIYers. Mr. Bricolage is third for the clarity of its store layout, its modernity and assistance for customers during the planning stage.
From the study it appears that French DIYers are particularly demanding and volatile, each of them frequenting 2.5 retail channels on average.
