The co-founder of Gardena and honorary chairman of the IVG has died aged 76

It has been announced that Eberhard Kastner, co-founder of Gardena, Ulm, died last Sunday at the age of 76. Kastner was also for many years the chairman and later honorary chairman of the garden manufacturers’ association IVG (Industrieverband Garten). He was awarded the Bundesverdienstkreuz (order of the Federal Republic of Germany) for his services in this field.
The year 1961 saw the founding of Gardena in Ulm by Eberhard Kastner and his partner Werner Kress. Their introduction of a garden watering system in the year 1968 brought fundamental changes to the sector. Gardena then developed into one of Europe’s leading manufacturers of garden tools in the years that followed.
