Women, and especially Hispanic women, are more and more often undertaking DIY activities in the USA

Women in the USA are taking to DIY with ever-increasing frequency. Especially women of Latin American descent, who are known as Hispanics, are tackling maintenance and home improvement jobs with increasing confidence. This is the conclusion reached by the authors of the fourth national survey of DIYers commissioned by Lowe’s. Sixty-seven per cent of women overall and 79 per cent of women belonging to the Hispanic population group are prepared to take sole responsibility for the maintenance, repair and improvement of their own homes. Nearly half (49 per cent of all women and 54 per cent of Hispanic women) identify themselves as intermediate DIYers. What is more, according to the study there is also a trend towards women gaining experience with DIY jobs at an increasingly young age and also remaining active for longer in older generations.
