The Austrian market leader is testing a new information platform at the Mega-Baumax store in Tulln. This involved installing a number of plasma displays screening different informative programmes in the outlet. They serve as the medium for conveying information about products or staff announcements, for e-learning purposes or for product promotion. The aim is to provide optimum support for the sales personnel and more comprehensive information for customers. What is more, the company hopes for an increase in impulse purchases resulting from deliberately positioning the displays close to new products or in the checkout area. Baumax has implemented this new “Store as a medium” concept in collaboration with Cisco Systems, Sony and Telekom Austria.
