Lowe’s heading for New York

More than 60 outlets are planned there, and Chicago remains on the growth list as well

Lowe’s is planning a billion-dollar investment (€ 1 bn) in the New York metropolitan region over the next several years. The company intends to open more than 60 new outlets in the area. In addition, it is adhering to its plans for the Chicago market. There Menards is working on half a dozen megastores in excess of 20 000 m². Originally based in smaller towns, Lowe’s until now has had an expansionary strategy targeted more at medium-sized cities.
