Sodimac increased stores by around 3 per cent between 2016 and 2021

Sodimac, part of the Falabella Group, is South America's largest DIY company, operating a total of 254 retail locations in seven countries at the end of 2021. The total number thus increased by 3 stores or around 1.2 per cent between 2020 and 2021.

In mother country Chile, 85 stores of the Sodimac and Imperial sales lines were operated at the end of 2021, the total number of which has not changed here since 2016. In addition, there were a further 56 stores in Peru, whereby Maestro DIY stores were also added here, and 53 stores in Brazil, whereby Dicico stores were also added here. In both Peru and Brazil, the number of stores remained the same between 2020 and 2021.

The fourth country in the order of locations is Colombia, where 40 stores were operated at the end of 2021 - the same number as the previous year. This is followed by Mexico with 9 stores at last count (+3 or +50 per cent), Argentina with 7 stores (-1 or -12.5 per cent) and Uruguay with 4 stores (+1 or 33.3 per cent).

Comparing the end of 2016 to the end of 2021, Sodimac increased the total number of stores by 7 or 2.8 per cent. At the end of 2016, 247 stores were in operation. Since 2016, the total number has remained the same in Chile and Peru, while it increased by 9 stores in Mexico, 2 stores in Colombia and 1 store in Uruguay. The company entered Mexico in 2018, while the number of stores decreased between the end of 2016 and the end of 2021 in Brazil (-4 stores or -7.0 per cent) and Argentina (-1 store or -12.5 per cent).

In Chile, the company reached an average sales area of around 8 950 m² for its stores at the end of 2021. In Peru, the value was around 8 100 m².
