The Salons d’Automne with the Jarditec fair were forced to take a steep drop in visitor numbers. From next year on, the multi-trade show is being given a new concept

The Salons d’Automne, held in Paris from 30 September to 2 October, saw the registration of 41 658 trade visitors. That is 19 per cent fewer than just a year ago, when the Jarditec and Urbavert-Urbatec trade fairs in combination counted 51 458 visitors. The number of exhibitors remained unchanged in comparison with the previous year at 1300. They occupied a gross exhibition area of 110 000 m². This year again there were awards for the best new products. Here the winners included Algoflash, Compo, Outils Wolf, Robert Bosch and Siam.
Fewer visitors came to Paris for the Salons d’Automne than last year.
The multi-trade fair intends in future to make a name for itself as a green euro-exhibition. Which is why French industry and the fair organiser Exposium Paris have decided to restructure their autumn event. Consequently there will be a number of changes next year: The multi-trade fair of  Jarditec and Urbatec-Urbavert is to be given the new name of Jardin & Paysage and will be held as early as the middle of September. The venue is being changed from the Parc des Expositions at Paris/Villepinte, which is not available at that time, to the Paris-Expo site (Porte de Versailles). Yet another change concerns the frequency of the event: from the year 2003 the multi-trade fair will open to visitors once in two years. The range of products will be separated into five major sectors, known as the “Villages”: gardens, materials and tools, plants, local authorities and services. In order to pacify the machinery specialists, who will no longer be able to display their products outdoors at Porte de Versailles, there are plans for an exhibition for this sector alternating with Jardin & Paysage.

The dates for the coming event have already been decided: the international meeting for the trade will take place from 15 to 17 September 2003 in Halls 1 to 3.
The organising company Exposium, is pinning its hopes on the new concept,  to win back exhibitors and visitors alike. A reduction of the price per m2 for stands, from 151 euro to 120 euro, is one step in this direction.
And according to information from Exposium, the Expo site at Porte de Versailles, which was radically modernised three years ago, “suits the profile of this event particularly well”.
