For American online shoppers, 3 December is the best day to get tools and home improvement products at a discounted price. Because on so-called Giving Tuesday, they will save an average of 6 per cent compared to the fixed price on 1 October. This forecast has been made by the study "Adobe Holiday Shopping Trends - Adobe Digital Insights 2019".
The report contains a whole host of additional statistical findings on the online and cross-channel trade. For example, on the topic of BOPIS (buy-online-pick-up-in-store): "BOPIS orders have experienced a strong growth year to date with 30 per cent more BOPIS orders placed this year when comparing the same time period in 2018. We expect this trend to carry over into holiday shopping. 37 per cent of consumers this season are planning to use BOPIS. 82 per cent of BOPIS patrons will shop for additional items while picking up their online order."
An important topic which the report addresses is mobile commerce. This Christmas, consumers will purchase on their smartphones more than on desktop for the first time ever, according to the report. Currently, the proportion of smartphone-led purchases in the area of tools and home improvement, as well as in the area of home and garden, already lies at around 30 per cent. The report states that in general, smaller purchases are made on smartphones, leaving research for the bigger screens.
