BackGermany’s DIY stores and garden centres to close
Tomorrow, 16 December 2020, all DIY stores and garden centres across Germany will close until 10 January. Stores in the federal state of Saxony closed yesterday. The sale of Christmas trees is still permitted, and pet stores may remain open. The German Chancellor and heads of government of the 16 federal states have taken the decision to implement a so-called "hard lockdown", closing down the public life of the country as far as possible, in an effort to lower the high coronavirus infection rates currently prevailing.
During the first lockdown in April, home improvement stores and garden centres largely remained open. They were only closed temporarily in four federal states.
