News | Relaxing or not?

DIY and gardening raise the heart rate

To judge by the heart rate, gardening and DIY are by no means relaxing hobbies. In fact, a study by the platform has arrived at the conclusion that DIY and gardening are among the least relaxing hobbies; only walking, running and cycling rank lower. On the other hand, however, it could be said that DIY and gardening make the heart beat faster.

It is no surprise that the top-ranked hobby for relaxation is knitting. The other four in the top 5 of stress-relievers are also pretty logical: angling, blogging, calligraphy and painting. Data from 357 British respondents aged between 20 and 30 was analysed with the help of a Fitbit activity tracker.
