Back“Best quarter in history” for Byggmax
"Best quarter in history" is how the Swedish DIY chain Byggmax describes the second quarter of 2020. Compared with the same period last year, net sales increased by 38.9 per cent to SEK 2.499 bn (EUR 240.4 mio). The group's currency-adjusted like-for-like sales increased by 39.2 per cent.
According to the company, the sales increase was boosted by exceptional market growth and strategic initiatives that generated approximately 10 per cent growth. These included investment in e-commerce, via which sales rose by 62 per cent. Here the click & collect offering was revealed as the preferred option of customers. The proportion of these orders increased last year by four per cent to 14 per cent. The Byggmax management estimates the growth of the overall market in Scandinavia at 20 to 30 per cent, strongest in April. The reason for this was the "stay home" effect during the Covid-19 pandemic.
