US industry expert Craig Webb expects growth in the first half of 2024 to be weak at best, particularly in the market for remodelling activities for private homeowners in the USA. He said this at a webinar organised by the Global DIY Summit and the international associations Edra/Ghin and Hima last Friday. After that, however, he expects demand to rise sharply. "The future is exciting," said Webb about the prospects for DIY retailers and manufacturers, although this applies more to the professional market.

Webb also spoke about the phenomenon that many players in the construction supply market are "positively nervous" in that they read and talk about bad developments at one company and another, "but then they look at their own business, and it's actually pretty good".
