Hornbach expands its Board of Management and sets the course for the future

The Board of Management of Baumarkt AG and Management AG at the Hornbach Group will be expanded as of 1 June 2023. As announced by the company, the Supervisory Board of Baumarkt AG has appointed Christa Theurer, member of the management board in Germany, Jan Hornbach, managing director of Hornbach International GmbH, and Nils Hornbach, member of the management board in Germany and head of E-Business at Hornbach Baumarkt AG, to the Board of Management of Hornbach Baumarkt AG as of 1 June 2023. The appointment is for a period of 3 years.

At the same time, it was announced that the Board of Management of Hornbach Management AG would be expanded to include Erich Harsch. Harsch was appointed to the Board of Management of Management AG as of 1 June 2023 - in addition to his duties as chairman of the Board of Management of Baumarkt AG. He will be responsible for the DIY division at Management AG. His appointment is for five years. The term of his contract as chairman of the Executive Board of Baumarkt AG will be adjusted to the same period of validity and thus extended ahead of schedule, the company writes.

On the Board of Management, Christa Theurer will be responsible for Operations Germany - the operation of the 98 DIY megastores with garden centres in Germany and Luxembourg. Jan Hornbach will assume responsibility for International Operations - the operation of the 71 DIY megastores with garden centres in the seven European countries of the business region. At Board of Management level, Nils Hornbach is responsible for the E-Business division as well as the specialist store concept for floor coverings under the Bodenhaus brand and Hornbach Forst GmbH.

"Christa Theurer has made a major contribution to the success of the past years as a member of the Board of Management and as a colleague with a long service record. Her experience gained from working closely with colleagues at Hornbach stores in Germany enriches the Board of Management of Hornbach Baumarkt AG," says Erich Harsch. This decision once again underlines the importance of operations within the Group.

At the same time, the new appointments also represent a clear commitment on the part of the founding family to the group, according to a statement. "With the appointment of my nephews Jan Hornbach and Nils Hornbach and with my son, Dr. Christian Hornbach, who has already been chairman of the Board of Management of Hornbach Baustoff Union since January 1, 2022, we have taken further steps towards the future of our successful family company. The sixth generation of the Hornbach family is gradually moving up the ranks and will play an even more active role in the strategic development of our business in future," says Albrecht Hornbach.

Christa Theurer has been with Hornbach since 1994. She was a regional manager for many years and has been a member of the Management Board Germany since October 2019. The positive trend in sales and the business performance of the national subsidiary in Germany are also based on her commitment, according to the company. Jan Hornbach has been with the company since 2009. As managing director, he has assumed responsibility for Hornbach International GmbH since 2016. Nils Hornbach has been with the company for eight years. According to the company, he has been very committed to the development of new business fields in recent years, such as Bodenhaus. He has also contributed to Hornbach's success as the person responsible for E-Business.

In addition to Albrecht Hornbach (chairman), the Board of Management of Management AG will then consist of Karin Dohm and Erich Harsch from 1 June 2023. Albrecht Hornbach will be responsible for the builders' merchant business (Hornbach Baustoff Union GmbH) and real estate (Hornbach Immobilien AG), while Karin Dohm will be in charge of finance, accounting, taxes, group controlling, risk management, auditing, legal affairs, compliance, investor relations and Erich Harsch will be responsible for the DIY megastores with garden centers (Hornbach Baumarkt AG) and public relations.

From 1 June 2023, the Board of Management of Baumarkt AG will consist of Erich Harsch (chairman), Karin Dohm, Jan Hornbach, Nils Hornbach, Susanne Jäger, Karsten Kühn, Ingo Leiner, Dr. Andreas Schobert and Christa Theurer.
