The British chain of DIY stores, Wickes, completed financial year 2021 (ending 25 December 2021) with a growth in like-for-like sales of 13.3 per cent compared to the previous year. In the core business, sales rose by 14.2 per cent, in the do-it-for-me field by 9.7 per cent. These figures have now been published by the company.

Due to the different restrictions in relation to Covid-19 in the report years, the figures in the quarters vary considerably. For example, like-for-like sales in the first quarter rose by 19.7 percent and in the second by 47.6 per cent compared to the respective same period last year. In contrast, in the third and fourth quarters, sales lay at 1.6 per cent, that is to say, 5.0 per cent below the corresponding period the year before.

Compared to 2019, Wickes made like-for-like 18.9 per cent more sales last year. A plus in the core field of 35.7 per cent stands in contrast to a minus of 20.9 per cent in the do-it-for-me area.

Wickes belonged to the building materials group Travis Perkins until April 2021. The demerger of Wickes was completed on 28 April 2021.
