Sodimac doubles sales in second quarter


The home improvement division of the Chilean retail group Falabella doubled its sales in the second quarter. Compared to the same period last year, the sales volume rose by 99.9 per cent to CLP 1 273 008 mio (EUR 1.381 bn). In Chile, the group's most important market by a long way, the DIY store channel Sodimac made sales of CLP 819 373 mio (EUR 889 mio) and thus 96.0 per cent more. In addition to Chile, the company is also active in the DIY store business in Argentina, Brazil, Peru and Colombia.
Overall sales in the first half year totalled CLP 2 501 896 mio (EUR 2.714 bn). That is an increase of 55 per cent compared to the first six months of 2020.
