Russian DIY market has shrunk this year

After years of high growth rates, in double figures in some cases, the Russian DIY market has shrunk this year quite considerably. The market research firm Euromonitor International expects the real value sales of home and garden specialist retailers in Russia to decline by twelve per cent in 2015. Only the garden segment can point to modest growth. The background to this is inflation in double figures, coupled with a recession that has been blamed on sanctions imposed as a reaction to the Ukraine conflict and a significant drop in energy prices.
In its 1/2016 issue, the trade magazine DIY International will publish a detailed analysis by Euromonitor International in the context of a regional report on Russia.
