THDIY: Typhoon curtails fair

The fourth Taipei International Hardware & DIY Show (THDIY) offered a platform for hardware, tools and DIY products at the Taipei World Trade Center. The fair was intended to last from 23 to 25 October, but the final day fell victim to a typhoon, which forced organisers Koelnmesse and Kaigo to close earlier than scheduled. Represented there were 160 exhibitors – 56 per cent more than in 2003 – and 8 168 trade visitors, 1 008 of them from 54 different countries. Attendance figures show that 9 315 visitors registered in 2003. The organisers reported a strong showing among visitors from the USA, Japan, Germany, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia, Iran and Finland in spite of the adverse weather conditions.
