Practical World, the new name for IHF and DIY’TEC

04.03.2002

Modernisation of Cologne’s leading DIY trade fair is not only to include a  concept for bundling related product categories from 2003. The fair organisers have also conjured up a new name and a new logo

The International Hardware Fair and DIY’TEC are “rebadging”. From 2003 the trio of World Tools Centre, Security Systems Locks and Fittings, plus DIY’TEC, will have their new umbrella fair under the new title and logo of “Practical World”. According to Bernd Aufderheide, managing director of Köln-Messe, this move is designed to underline the international significance of this spring fair, involve the target sectors still more effectively and appropriately, and continue to increase identification of the event with Cologne as the location where it is held. Aufderheide is convinced that “Practical World will be orientated even more closely to the hardware sectors’ shopping list of things they would like in a made-to-measure fair.”
In addition to these changes, the Cologne DIY fair’s new category-bundling concept will come into existence from the year 2003. Then the focus will be on the centre for professional interior finishing and installations in odd years, and on the keynote topic of construction work in even years.
