On 1 April 1925 Johann Kretzer and his two sons had a company dedicated to the production and distribution of Solingen scissors entered in the commercial register. The company’s motto proclaimed “The best scissors for every eventuality”.
After the war the founder’s sons developed the tool market through a new subsidiary, Robin Werkzeuge, and made the first export contacts. In the mid-fifties came renewed investment in the production plant, where it was then possible to produce great numbers of scissors at reasonable cost. Better shop sales were achieved even in those days by packaging the products individually for self-service at specialist retailers.
In the seventies the company developed a new type of stainless steel scissors with plastic handles. It was then one of the first manufacturers in the world to launch a complete range of these innovative scissors under the Finny brand name. At the same time the distribution side saw consistent growth.
Finny Alpha, the scissors with the two-component handles boxed as a special offer.
In 1998 Kretzer launched Finny Alpha, the first scissors with patented two-component handles (soft-grip). For the anniversary year these scissors are available as a twin-pack limited edition in four different designs. Nowadays the company is one of the biggest manufacturers of scissors in the world, selling 1.5 Mio units every year in more than 140 countries around the globe. Exports account for over 50 per cent of sales and are continuing to rise.
