Hellweg and Toom Baumarkt resurrect the DIY Union

Hellweg Die Profi-Baumärkte GmbH & Co. KG and Toom Baumarkt GmbH are resurrecting their collaboration in the DIY Union procurement company, which came to an end in January 2013. Hellweg is to return as a shareholder in DIY Union on 23 August 2018, subject to the approval of the responsible competition authorities. Dominique Rotondi of Toom and Frank Jahn of Hellweg will act as joint managing directors of DIY Union. When it was established in January 2011, DIY Union had combined sales volumes amounting to roughly three billion euros. "Following extensive analysis and assessment of the current market environment, it is clear to us that cooperating in the DIY Union procurement company would create a strong strategic advantage for both companies," explained Dominique Rotondi, purchasing and logistics director at Toom.
