The Australian DIY store operator Bunnings, according to their own reports, is working on getting the greater part of their inventory online-compatible by the end of 2020. The company is currently carrying out a test in the Australian states of Tasmania and Victoria with around 60 000 products. The customer has the choice between home delivery or click-and-collect. Bunnings only used to offer a selection of bulky articles in e-commerce.
On the one hand, Bunnings is one of the most powerful Australian retail store participants, however has still not been spared from failure, for example the unsuccessful expansion in Great Britain through the takeover of Homebase. The AUD 700 mio investment was sold to Hilco Capital at the start of 2018 for GBP 1 (AUD 1.82)
