During the Covid-19 crisis in Spain, online retailing in the DIY sector has witnessed growth rates of 300 to 400 per cent. Proximity commerce is also doing well presently as a result of the pandemic, said César Navarro, the official responsible for the business department at the Spanish manufacturer's association AFEB, at the latest members' assembly. The assembly was organised exclusively online for the first time and had 160 participants from 58 member organisations.

A survey was also presented on how companies have handled the pandemic. In this, 65 per cent of respondents said that they had opted for shorter working hours during the crisis. For 80 per cent, however, this is now no longer the case. 77 per cent of manufacturers had experienced interruptions to the supply chain. Digitalisation had accelerated for 97 per cent, while 85 per cent are considering selling via the Internet.
