Menards owner is one of America’s richest men

04.11.2019

John Menard, owner of the home improvement chain Menards, is one of America's richest men. In a recent issue of Forbes, listing the 400 richest people in America, the magazine estimates his wealth at USD 11.8 bn. It points out that while he was still in college he began building agricultural structures near his Eau Claire, Wisconsin, home. Forbes estimates the chain's sales at USD 10.7 bn, which, if accurate, would put average sales-per-store at USD 35 mio. Menards ranks fourth in America's home improvement retail industry.
Incidentally, that issue of Forbes listed the wealth of Bernie Marcus, one of Home Depot's founders, at USD 6.4 bn, and that of Arthur Blank, its other key founder, at USD 5.5 bn.
