German DIY stores made sales of EUR 10.23 bn in the first half of the year 2019, an increase in sales of 4.8 per cent compared to the same period last year. These figures have been published by BHB, the German DIY retail association.

The generally pleasing tendency of the first half of the year 2019 for the DIY and garden store trade: only three assortment ranges were not able to grow in this phase. This concerns the segments home/deco (-0.9 per cent), paint/painting supplies (-0.4 per cent) and also, surprisingly, garden furniture (-0.8 per cent). The product groups with the most profit were technology/office/entertainment (+20.4 per cent), garden chemicals/soil/seeds (+12.6 per cent), leisure/seasonal goods (+8.2 per cent), wood (+8.1 per cent) as well as construction chemicals/construction materials (+7.8 per cent).
