Cencosud reports a drop in sales in the first quarter

The home improvement division of the Chilean Cencosud group closed the first quarter of 2018 with a drop in sales of 2.3 per cent. Overall, the 96 Easy and Blaisten stores made sales of CLP 324.167 bn (EUR 454 mio).

In Chile, sales rose by 0.2 per cent, like-for-like by 0.3 per cent. Revenues in Argentina increased 30.6 per cent in ARS and decreased 4.3 per cent in CLP to CLP 172.612 bn (EUR 237 mio), due to the depreciation of ARS. Same store sales had a growth of 26.9 per cent, reflecting higher sales of imported products. The locations in Colombia increased their sales in the local currency by 6.2 per cent; however the converted CLP 15.439 bn (EUR 21 mio) were practically at the previous year's level (-0.5 per cent). On the other hand, same store sales declined by 6.2 per cent.
