Ace takes over eleven former Orchard locations

Ace Hardware Corporation will open new Ace Hardware stores in eleven former Orchard Supply Hardware locations in California. Nine of the stores will be owned and operated by Westlake Ace Hardware, a subsidiary of Ace Hardware Corporation. Two of the eleven stores will be owned and operated by independent retailers. Ace anticipates the opening of most locations this summer with the average size store around 3 000 m². Lowe's, the former owner of Orchard, had closed the 99 stores of this chain in 2018.
Ace Hardware is seen as the world's largest retailer-owned hardware cooperative with more than 5 200 locally owned and operated hardware stores in approximately 70 countries. With 173 new domestic store openings in 2018, the cooperative increase its presence in the US where it has over 4 400 affiliated stores.
