The first two Ikea stores in South America will be opened in prime locations in the city and not in the outskirts. The Chilean trade company Falabella has now published the locations which are both in the capital city Santiago de Chile. The opening is planned for 2021 and not for 2020, as was still said at the announcement of the agreement with the Swedish furniture group in May 2018. According to a press report, with the opening in the city centre, Ikea says that it is truly committing to making affordable design available to the many. An online shop is also planned.
Falabella, which operates in the home improvement sector through its subsidiary Sodimac, is an Ikea franchisee in Chile, Colombia and Peru.
