Discussions in the European industry

In the European DIY industry there is resentment and disagreement concerning the course of action that manufacturers and retailers are taking in the Corona crisis. Manufacturers in several European countries to some extent see themselves as confronted with new and, from their perspective, difficult demands from several trading companies. The Spanish manufacturing association AFEB has already reacted to this with public recommendations to its members. In Italy there is also already a discussion in the DIY and garden industry under the slogan #iopagoifornitori ("I pay the suppliers"). There are similar reports from the Netherlands and Germany.
The international associations Edra/Ghin and Hima, who have been cooperating closely together for many years and, for example, jointly host the Global DIY Summit, have now reacted with a joint appeal for fair interaction in the industry. We have documented their statement in a separate report.
