Hortiflorexpo IPM Beijing 2018 drew to a close with big increases in all figures. From 10 to 12 May 2018 the New China International Exhibition Center attracted a total of 35 196 trade visitors from 46 countries, an increase of 21.8 per cent on two years ago. 796 exhibitors displayed the latest plant breeds, innovative horticultural technology and floristry requisites and equipment on 40 000 square metres of exhibition area. Exhibitor numbers were up by 17.2 per cent and the exhibition area increased by 29 per cent. Thus the event, organised jointly by Messe Essen, the China Flower Association and China Great Wall International, succeeded in impressively underlining its position as China's most important horticultural fair, according to the summary by the organisers.
Exhibitors at Hortiflorexpo IPM Beijing 2018 came from 30 countries in all. The organisers believe that the marked increase in foreign companies attending highlights the importance of the Chinese market. 215 exhibitors travelled to the show from outside China, as compared with 189 in 2016. The Netherlands, Ecuador, Colombia and Taiwan appeared on official national stands, while the joint German stand featured 14 companies from the German horticultural sector.
The next Hortiflorexpo IPM takes place in Shanghai from 20 to 22 April 2019. In May 2020 it will then be the turn of Beijing once again to host China's most important horticultural trade show.
