The German DIY store operator Hornbach also got its strongest growth impulses from abroad in financial year 2017/2018 (ending 28 February 2018), according to a statement in Trading. Because while sales at the Hornbach stores in Germany grew by 1.5 per cent (also like-for-like), the group gained an increase of 9.0 per cent in the eight remaining European countries in which it is active. Like-for-like, net of currency effects, Hornbach increased sales in the rest of Europe by 6.1 per cent, including currency effects this was 5.6 per cent more here on a like-for-like basis. Taking home and abroad together, sales by Hornbach at DIY stores and in e-commerce rose by 4.9 per cent to EUR 3.891 bn. Like-for-like sales net of currency effects by the group's DIY and garden stores gained 3.6 per cent (3.3. per cent with currency effects) over the whole of Europe. EUR 2.071 bn was attributed to Germany, EUR 1.820 bn to abroad. Thus, the foreign share rose from 45.0 to 46.8 per cent.
