Growth of 8 per cent for Austria’s DIY retailers in the first six

Austrian home improvement stores increased their gross sales by 8.3 per cent to EUR 1.61 bn in the first half of 2021. Double-digit growth in the first quarter (+35.9 per cent, measured against the comparable period in 2020 with a longer lockdown) was followed by a downturn in the second (-4.2 per cent). The figures were published by the German industry association BHB.
The most successful segments in Austria were the automotive category (+24.1 per cent), timber (+20.7 per cent) and technology/office/entertainment (+17.2 per cent). Paints/coatings (-4.9 per cent) and household goods (-1.0 per cent) declined.
