The 8th Global DIY Summit has now been officially postponed until next year. The new dates are 8 to 10 June 2022 in Copenhagen, although a digital conference, the 1st Virtual DIY Summit 2021, will be staged this year on 9 and 10 September 2021. This news was disseminated by the organisers, the international retailers' and manufacturers' associations Edra/Ghin and Hima.
The 1st Virtual DIY Summit 2021 complements the Global DIY Network launched in October 2020. It is intended to give companies and representatives of the international home improvement sector an opportunity to come together online to exchange information regarding the measures taken in response to Covid-19 and to discuss the latest trends and the outlook for 2022. This virtual conference is being offered as an additional service to all those who had already registered as delegates for the 8th Global DIY Summit or as members of the Global DIY Network.
In a statement, the chairmen of Edra and Hima, Sergio Giroldi and Reinhard Wolff, detailed the reasons behind the decision. The main reason for the postponement is the continuing risk posed by Covid-19, because vaccinations globally are not yet at the necessary level and the danger of mutations exists. "We are strong believers that the Global DIY Summit in 2022 will be one of the best yet as the industry reconvenes", write Giroldi and Wolff.
