The new Director of European Affairs of the European DIY Retail Association (Edra) is Robert Wright. The association's new man in Brussels has 25 years' experience in public affairs and public policy and has worked both for the EU Commission and the EU Economic and Social Committee. He also has experience of working with a major public affairs consultancy and across a number of industries including the high-tech sector, where he helped lead Intel Corporation's Environmental and Energy Efficiency strategic engagement across the EMEA region for five years. He has also worked in the oil and gas sector and the renewable energy sectors.
Robert Wright will focus on coordinating Edra's EU affairs strategy and will represent the sector to key EU stakeholders, especially the European Commission and European Parliament. On his appointment, John Herbert, Secretary General of Edra, said, "Robert brings to Edra a high degree of expertise in EU affairs and will be pivotal in helping EU stakeholders develop a better understanding of our primary issues in order for Edra to design and execute robust strategies to raise the profile and appreciation of our sector's contribution to the EU agenda on investment, jobs and sustainability". Wright's predecessor, Alisdair Gray, stopped working for Edra in the summer.
Robert Wright is Irish and lives in Brussels. He is married and has two children. He is fluent in English, Italian and French.
