Leroy Merlin España has increased its 2016 sales by 8.6 per cent to € 1.931 bn. Net profit amounted to € 93.18 million. The chain, which belongs to the French Adeo group, wants to open a total of 31 new DIY stores from 2017 to 2021 and intends spending € 608 mio on this, according to an announcement made my Ignacio Sánchez Villares, CEO of Leroy Merlin España at a press conference. In the current year, € 109.5 mio is being put into five new stores, five enlargements and 25 renovations.
The company emphasises that € 839.7 mio - which is 72.7 per cent of its purchase amount - goes to Spanish suppliers; currently 84.5 per cent of the 1,764 suppliers come from Spain. The entire Adeo group and its sales channels in other countries bought additional goods to the value of € 752.1 mio from Spanish manufacturers.
Leroy Merlin claims to be market leader in Spain, and justifies this, for example, with the better customer experience in stores, which is also because of the digital transformation. For example, in 2016, € 23.9 mio were invested in IT projects and in 2017 this is expected to be another € 26 mio.
Leroy Merlin's Spanish online shop increased its sales by 30.5 per cent in 2016. More than 180,000 orders were completed. Over 88,000 SKUs are available on the Net.
