4.4 per cent overall

Garden and construction haul the Dutch market upwards

04.04.2019

The DIY retail trade in the Netherlands grew by 4.4 per cent last year. This was reported by the trade journal Mix in its article on the DIY Recap study by market research company GfK, based on the Total Store Report by GfK. As in other countries in central Europe, the garden segment grew strongest thanks to the long, hot summer of 2018, increasing by 12.3 per cent in the Netherlands. The second-biggest increase in sales by home improvement stores came in the construction chemistry and building materials categories. However, two product groups experienced a growth rate below two per cent: plumbing and tiles only grew by 1.2 per cent, and decorating by 1.9 per cent.
