The consumer division of the British retail group Travis Perkins made 1.8 per cent less sales in the third quarter than in the same period last year; the like-for-like drop was even 4.2 per cent. In the first three quarters the decrease was 1.9 per cent (like-for-like -4.2 per cent).
For the Wickes sales channel, the market environment is said to remain challenging in UK DIY, resulting in continued volume declines in Wickes in both core DIY and kitchen and bathroom showroom categories, according to the quarterly report. There are complaints of a significant pricing competition across the sector.
On the other hand, the group still reports strong like‐for‐like and total sales growth for its Toolstation sales channel. They are said to be within their time schedule with the opening of a total of 40 new stores this year.
