A change has taken place in the management team of Lowe's. Richard D. Maltsbarger (42), Lowe's chief development officer and president, international, has been appointed chief operating officer (COO) with effect from 3 February 2018. He will continue to report to Robert A. Niblock, chairman, president and CEO. Maltsbarger succeeds Rick D. Damron, who has served as chief operating officer since 2012 and plans to retire after 36 years with the company.
In his new role, Maltsbarger will oversee areas including store operations, supply chain, pro and service. He will also work closely with Michael P. McDermott, chief customer officer, to further enhance the company's omni-channel customer experience. Maltsbarger, who joined Lowe's in 2004 and was appointed chief development officer in 2014, has led Lowe's international operations since 2015. Delegates at the Global DIY Summit 2017 will recall that he gave the laudation for Lowe's manager Greg Bridgeford, who was presented with the Global DIY Lifetime Award in Berlin.
