The Swiss retail group Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund (MGB) is simplifying its organisation and internal processes in the central administrative areas and will be cutting back on 290 full-time jobs in the next three years. The company wants to invest the freed-up funds into future projects in order to specifically target its offers to the changing needs of its customers and a better price-performance ratio. In a press release it was stated that: "In order to defy the shift from stationary to online business as well as the increasing competition from international online providers, Migros-Genossenschafts-Bund is currently undergoing a transformation." At the same time the company intends to create new jobs in response to the changing requirements.
In the DIY and garden market Migros is active with 45 stores from its sales channel Do it + Garden and as franchisee of Obi with ten stores.
