In its retail operations the German cooperative Hagebau recorded a purchasing volume of EUR 1.84 bn last year. This equates to growth of 4.8 per cent compared with 2017.  Both the DIY business division and the garden division contributed to this growth in central sales (which is not the same as the sales turnover of the businesses affiliated to Hagebau), according to the central office. "Our sales growth in retailing is supported by a steadily growing import business," says Sven Grobrügge, director of accounting, finance and controlling.
The specialty trade with its building materials, timber and tiles segments grew by 5 per cent overall to EUR 4.33 bn. The timber division fared particularly well, with an increase of 6.7 per cent to EUR 842 mio.
In total, the members of Hagebau purchased goods and services from the central office in Soltau to the value of EUR 6.33 bn in fiscal 2018.
