The American manufacturer of garden appliances, MTD Products, has acquired the Israeli company F. Robotics Acquisitions Ltd., the supplier of Robomow robotic lawnmowers. F. Robotics is regarded as one of the global market leaders in the robotic lawn mower segment with the Robomow brand. MTD is the parent company of brands including Wolf-Garten and Cub Cadet. It intends to continue with the Robomow brand; the technology is to be used for all MTD brands in Europe and the USA.
F. Robotics was founded in Pardesiya in Israel in 1995. The main sales region hitherto for the mower, which has won many awards, has been Europe, where growth rates for the overall market segment of robotic technology for private gardens is more than 30 per cent per annum. According to MTD, the global market volume is currently around € 1.6 bn. With this acquisition MTD aims to increase demand in the North American market too and gain market share.
The head office of F. Robotics will remain in Pardesiya. Business will continue to be conducted by the existing management, but will receive support from the MTD divisions in Europe, North America and Asia-Pacific with regard to achieving the growth targets. The company claims to have developed the world's first battery-operated robotic lawn mower.
