Toom boss and BHB president Riesche to retire in 2018

Detlef Riesche will leave Toom Baumarkt in summer 2018.

Detlef Riesche, CEO of the fifth-biggest German DIY chain Toom Baumarkt and chairman of the German DIY retail federation BHB, is to retire in mid-2018. His successor will be Rene Haßfeld, who is currently sales and marketing director at Toom Baumarkt.

Riesche has been with the Rewe Group, the parent company of Toom Baumarkt, since 1982 and became CEO in March 2012. He worked previously as commercial director of the company.

His successor Rene Haßfeld joined Rewe in October 2012, taking up the position he currently holds. One of his previous roles was as regional director at German DIY market leader Obi.
