The Hagebaumarkt DIY distribution channel of German speciality retail cooperative Hagebau increased its first-quarter sales by 8.4 per cent compared with the same period in 2016. Between January and March the 382 Hagebaumarkt stores in Germany and Austria turned over € 479 mio.

The small-format Werkers Welt concept with 108 stores in Germany fared even better. Net sales in these outlets rose 14 per cent to € 37.9 mio.

Centrally invoiced sales of the Hagebau Group as a whole also showed a significant increase in the first three months of the year. The 369 Hagebau partners purchased goods and services from the central office to the value of € 1.58 bn (previous year: € 1.50 bn), equivalent to an increase of 5.8 per cent.
