The Russian materials supplier and DIY store operator Petrovich increased its sales by 19 per cent in 2016. At the start of March, the company, which is mostly present in the St. Petersburg region, opened its third store in Moscow, the capital with high competition when it comes to trade. "In the Krasnogorsk district of Moscow we have opened a veritable building hub over five hectares and have invested 1.6 bn rouble in setting it up," says CEO Evgeny Movchan.
This store has been designed in Petrovich's new showroom format. The new Moscow location has a retail space of 3 500 m² and a 13 000 m² large warehouse, 10 000 m² of which is a high-bay warehouse.
Petrovich is planning to gradually convert all of its branches into this format. Furthermore, another location is to be added in Moscow this year, and two branches in St. Petersburg.
For 2017, the company is aiming for sales of 36.4 bn rouble (without VAT), almost a third of which from online trade. Their stated goal is to take up second place of DIY store operators in Russia after Leroy Merlin. Obi currently holds this position, followed by Castorama.
An extensive report on Petrovich's new format is presented in the next edition of the trade journal DIY International which is out in April.
