Hagebaumarkt chain increases sales turnover for 2016 by 3.6 per cent

The net sales turnover of the Hagebaumarkt DIY chain in Germany and Austria in 2016 was € 2.15 bn (previous year: € 2.08 bn), thus surpassing the strong performance of the previous year for all 379 Hagebaumarkt stores by 3.6 per cent.
A new sales record was set by the building materials cooperative Hagebau as a whole, which racked up centrally invoiced sales of more than six billion euros for the third year in succession in 2016. The 369 partners in the cooperative purchased goods and services to the tune of € 6.26 bn (previous year: € 6.09 bn) via the Hagebau head office in Germany. This equates to an increase of 2.8 per cent compared with 2015.
The cooperative has published the centrally invoiced sales for the retail trade, which came to € 3.91 bn in 2016. This has increased by 1.7 per cent over the record amount of the previous year.
At the end of 2016, the number of Hagebau speciality and retail stores had increased by 24 to 1 700 in total across eight European countries. Of these, 277 stores are located outside Germany and these contributed € 650.7 mio to the turnover from the merchandise business, equivalent to 11.6 per cent of goods turnover.
