European DIY retailing: first six months’ sales only slightly up on previous year

Sales by DIY retailers in Europe in the first six months of the year "only slightly exceeded those of the previous year".  This was the assessment delivered by John W. Herbert, general secretary of the European DIY Retail Association (Edra) in the run-up to the International Hardware Fair in 2018. "Although eastern European countries such as Poland, Czechia and Bulgaria are faring better, Russia continues to feel the effects of sanctions and sales in France have declined slightly compared with 2016," said Herbert, summarising the situation. The International Hardware Fair takes place in Cologne (Germany) from 4 to 7 March 2018.
