Castorama Russia closes store in Ufa

29.08.2017

At the end of this quarter, Castorama Russia will close its store in the city of Ufa. Employees of the store, which has been operating for seven years, told the Kommersant-Ufa newspaper that they had been informed by the store management of the closure, due to take place on 29 September. The reason cited was an increase in the lease cost announced by the owner of the building. The store in Ufa has already been removed from the map of the store network on the company's website.
The DIY store chain, part of the Kingfisher Group, had given notice back in 2015 of its intention to close a store in the Russian Federation and reduce the number of outlets to 20 in total. Located roughly 1 300 km east of Moscow, Ufa has two megastores belonging to Leroy Merlin in the French Groupe Adeo concern as well as a store operated by Russian chain Maxidom.
