Steinhoff also targets Home Retail Group without Homebase

Another interested party has expressed a desire to buy the British Home Retail Group. The separate sale of the company's DIY subsidiary Homebase to the Wesfarmers Group from Australia and its DIY chain Bunnings is not affected by this, however.
The South African furniture retailer Steinhoff has put in a higher bid than the UK supermarket chain Sainsbury. Steinhoff is an integrated retailer that retails, sources and manufactures household goods and general merchandise in the United Kingdom, Europe, Africa and Australasia. It is the second-biggest furniture retailer in Europe after Ikea.
