Toolstation is growing much more strongly than Wickes

The consumer division of the British Travis Perkins Group, with the chain of DIY stores Wickes and the small format and mail order concept Toolstation, grew by 5.0 per cent in the third quarter. This sales growth consists of an increase in like-for-like sales of 2.4 per cent and an increase through new space and acquisitions to the amount of 2.6 per cent. At the same time, a press release talks about a subdued growth in Wickes reflecting very strong comparatives from Q3 2016 and an increasingly difficult market environment. According to the report, the roll out of the Toolstation network in the UK and the Netherlands continued, demonstrating excellent like-for-like and overall sales growth.
Thus, growth of the consumer division for the entire first three quarters is also higher and amounts to 6.5 per cent. Of this, 4.6 per cent is accounted for by like-for-like sales and 2.7 per cent by new space and acquisitions.
