Second quarter

Home Pro experiences slower growth rates

31.07.2017

The Thai DIY store operator Home Pro reports much lower growth figures than in the past for the second quarter also. The company reports sales income of THB 14.80227 bn, 1.20 per cent more than in the previous year. Sales in the first six months came to THB 29.02796 bn, thus 2.88 per cent above the corresponding period in the previous year.
Although the Thai economy is driven by the export and tourism sectors, the recovery in consumption remains fragile because farm income is still subdued, according to the quarterly report of the management. The opening of new stores close to existing stores in Bangkok has also resulted in a cannibalisation effect.
In the second quarter Home Pro opened two new stores, one of which is in the new format Home Pro S and is located in the Gateway Ekamai shopping centre. A new store also opened in Malaysia. As of mid-2017, the company operated 82 Home Pro stores and eleven Mega Home stores in Thailand, along with three Home Pro stores in Malaysia.
